Is Mobile Car Wash Legal in Dubai? The 2026 Rules Explained

Short answer: yes, mobile car washing is legal in Dubai — as long as it is carried out by a properly licensed provider. What is restricted is informal washing in public or shared areas: washing your own car (or paying an unlicensed person to) in a building car park, on the street, or in community visitor parking can breach Dubai Municipality rules and result in a fine. Using a licensed mobile service like Washii keeps you on the right side of those rules.

Why washing your own car in shared parking is a problem

Dubai Municipality restricts vehicle washing in public and communal spaces — mainly to control waste water, runoff into storm drains, and the use of unlicensed labour. That is why building management and community security so often stop informal washers operating in the car park. The activity itself is not banned; doing it without a licence, in the wrong place, is.

What makes a mobile car wash compliant

    • A valid Dubai trade licence for car washing and vehicle cleaning services.
    • Trained, vetted staff employed by the company — not casual gig labour.
    • A self-contained setup that brings its own water and power, so nothing is drawn from the building.
    • Third-party liability insurance covering the work.
    • Respecting each building or community's own access rules.

Washii operates as a fully licensed mobile car wash and detailing company in Dubai, with trained, vetted staff and third-party liability cover. Our van is fully self-contained, so we never plug into your building or draw its water.

What you still need to do for building and apartment parking

Even with a licensed provider, access to private property is controlled by whoever manages it. If you live in an apartment or use a building car park anywhere in Dubai, check with your building security or management that a service van is allowed in, and arrange any access permit they require before the booking. For villa driveways this is rarely an issue; for towers and gated communities it is worth a quick message to security first.

Is it legal to wash my car at home in Dubai?

On your own private villa driveway, yes. In a shared apartment car park or community visitor parking, washing is restricted — use a licensed provider and clear access with your building first.

Can I be fined for washing my car in a public area?

Yes. Dubai Municipality restricts washing vehicles in public and shared spaces, and doing so can result in a fine. A licensed mobile service avoids the issue.

Is Washii licensed to operate across Dubai?

Yes. Washii is a fully licensed mobile car wash and detailing company operating Dubai-wide, with trained, vetted staff and third-party liability insurance.

Do I need permission for the van to enter my building?

For apartment or building parking, yes — please check with your building security or management that a service van is allowed in and arrange any permit they need. Our van is self-contained, so nothing else is required from the building.
